Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances: Emerging research for not so emerging contaminants
October 1st at 12:00-1:15pm, Duke University will feature Dr. Jamie DeWitt, who will discuss the potential toxicological effects of PFAS present in North Carolina. Dr. DeWitt is an associate professor in the East Carolina University School of Medicine. Dr. DeWitt’s laboratory focuses on functional effects of environmental chemicals on the immune system and its interactions with the nervous system during development and adulthood. FLUOROS Global 2021 hosted by STEEP Superfund Center
The University of Rhode Island STEEP Superfund Research Center will be hosting a five-day symposium October 3-7. This symposium will provide an opportunity for a multidisciplinary international exchange of information and multinational networking regarding the latest developments and scientific advances on PFAS and their adverse health impacts for humans and the environment. Risk Communication Strategies to Reduce Exposures and Improve Health: Session II – Combatting Misinformation and Mistrust When Communicating Health Risks
October 8th, the NIEHS Superfund Research Program will be hosting its second session on risk communication strategies. Toxicology Seminar: Elsie Sunderland on “What PFAS exposure sources we are currently overlooking?”
September 28th at 4-5pm EDT the Toxicological Seminar Series will have Dr. Elsie Sunderland speak on the topic of PFAS exposure sources. Dr. Sunderland holds faculty appointments in the Harvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, the Harvard T.H. Practical Approaches to Community Engagement hosted by EPA Region 4 Superfund Centers
1-3pm EDT August 2 & 4 Superfund Center CECs in EPA Region 4 will host a webinar on engaging with community partners in environmental health research. Day 1 a panel of professionals will present best practices for engaging with community members. Integrating Multiscale Geospatial Environmental Data into Large Population Health Studies hosted by NIEHS
