November 18 – RETCC: Citation Management with Zotero: Bibliographies Made Easy!
2:00-3:00 pm EST. In-person, East Learning Lab B 2113, DH Hill Library. Learn how to manage your research library, create citations, and insert bibliographies automatically using the free software Zotero. In this hands-on workshop, we will create Zotero accounts, download the software & plugins, practice importing documents, and learn how to create in-text citations and bibliographies with the click of a button. November 19 – Introduction to Creating Publication-Quality Visualizations
2:00-3:30 pm EST, Online event. In this introductory workshop, you will learn how to identify the main design elements of a visualization: color, typography, titles, subtitles, annotations, dark/light contrast, and labels. You will learn how to use these design elements to create visualizations specifically for publication in various formats. Dr. Joseph Braun, Professor of Epidemiology at Brown University, will present “PFAS Exposure and Its Health Impacts: Understanding Sources, Health Risks, and Interventions.” The seminar will focus on the relationship between PFAS exposure and long-term metabolic diseases, as well as strategies for assessing and mitigating these risks. December 5 – TAMU Superfund: TrAC Meet 2024: Community-Engaged Research in Houston, Texas
Houston, TX, In-person. Texas A&M Superfund presents TrAC Meet: A unique opportunity for trainees to learn about community-engaged research. This event will take place at the Houston headquarters of one of the Texas A&M Superfund Research Center’s community partners, t.e.j.a.s (Texas Environmental Justice Advocacy Services). Participants will spend the day with t.e.j.a.s and Community Engagement experts to learn first-hand about the opportunities and challenges of community-engaged research and research-informed solutions that address climate change resilience and environmental justice. January 16 – ITRC: Contaminants of Emerging Concern (CEC) Identification Framework Training
1:00-3:00 pm EST, Live webinar. In 2023, the ITRC Contaminants of Emerging Concern (CEC) Framework was published to help environmental regulatory agencies and other stakeholders identify, evaluate, and manage CEC’s while acknowledging uncertainties in their environmental fate and transport, receptor exposure, and/or toxicity. Such an approach can be conducive to improved allocation of regulatory response resources and provide a foundation for communicating potential risk to stakeholders. January 28 – ITRC: PFAS Introductory Training

Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are a large and complex class of anthropogenic compounds whose prevalence in the environment are an emerging, worldwide priority in environmental and human health. The ITRC PFAS Team, formed in 2017, has prepared readily accessible materials to present PFAS information to stakeholders, regulators, and policy makers.
