New Hanover County sues Chemours, PFAS manufacturers for contaminating environment, endangering firefighters

WRAL – New Hanover County is suing Chemours, DuPont and several other PFAS manufacturers for years of contamination. On Jan. 12, New Hanover County filed a lawsuit against more than a dozen manufacturers and sellers of products that use or containĀ polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).

Known asĀ forever chemicals, PFAS contamination of the air, groundwater and surface water has been an ongoing issue affecting southeastern North Carolina and the New Hanover County community for years, the lawsuit claims.
